NYC Neighborhood Strategies (NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development)
Daniel and his staff created the Neighborhood Planning Playbook to engage communities in NYC neighborhoods for planning public/private investments and zoning proposals for the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing Program, which was also created through the Office of Neighborhood Strategies in cooperation with the NYC Department of Planning.
Speedwell Redevelopment Plan (Jonathan Rose Companies, continues with Topology)
Daniel and his team served as the planning staff for the Town of Morristown to develop a series of redevelopment plans, financial models, and advise on planning and land use issues for the planning board. The Speedwell Redevelopment Plan is the town’s largest development undertaking, which links adjacent downtown to one the city’s prominent historic neighborhoods and a low-income neighborhood.
Brooklyn Army Terminal Investment Strategy, Sunset Park, NYC (Jonathan Rose Companies)
At the direction of the mayor Bloomberg administration, Daniel and his team created a series of catalytic projects to maximize the potential of a $15 million city investment to attract and retain manufacturing uses to the complex, as well as create a hub of activity for residents.
East Midtown Public Realm Vision Plan, Manhattan, NY (Jonathan Rose Companies)
Daniel and his team led an engaging and dynamic planning process to identify public space investments in the East Midtown district of Manhattan. Under the Bloomberg administration, NYC had a vision of reinvigorating the iconic and historic skyscraper urban landscapes and streets, and bring the district into the 21-century as an exciting and technologically connected place with great open spaces and pedestrian enclaves.
Newark Passaic Riverfront, Newark, NJ (Jonathan Rose Companies)
Daniel and his team worked closely with the Trust for Public Land and the City of Newark to develop a 6.6-acre park along the Passaic River. The team led a community planning process to inform the design, public amenities and infrastructure, and future programming of the park, that now serves as both an amenity for the adjacent Ironbound community, as well as a regional attraction to the historic neighborhood and river.
South Bronx Greenway (Jonathan Rose Companies)
Daniel and his team developed a business plan for the formation of a new non-profit organization to manage and program the South Bronx Greenway – 1.5 acres of waterfront greenway, 8.5 miles of green streets, and 12 acres of waterfront park space that connect two existing waterfront New York City waterfront parks, and a bicycle and pedestrian connection to Randall’s Island
Elizabethport HOPE VI Revitalization (Jonathan Rose Companies)
Daniel and his team served as the program manager for the Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth, New Jersey to create and implement a multi-phased, multi-year HOPE VI Revitalization Plan in its historic urban neighborhood.
EPA Smart Growth Guidelines (Jonathan Rose Companies)
Daniel and his team worked with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to engage residents, decision-makers, and developers to develop land use recommendation that create compact, mixed-use, mixed-income housing strategies linked to jobs and services. The project resulted in US EPA published document.
Sao Paulo Public/Private Affordable Housing Toolkit (Jonathan Rose Companies)
Daniel and his team consulted with the City of Sao Paulo urban development and housing agencies, along with Brookfield Incorporacoes, to develop the tools for entering into public/private partnership for the development and management of affordable housing.
